I don't know a lot about amateur radio licensing in Canada (I'll find out though), but when (not "if") the SHTF, you're going to want to get information other than the usual government-controlled "party line". Start looking into amateur radio, folks. Easiest way is to find a "ham club" near you and go to their meeting. Hamtestonline has interactive internet amateur radio licensing courses for both the US and Canada. Wander on over there and take a free trial lesson. I used their courses for my upgrades and was very satisfied (or in other words, I passed my exams).
